INDIAN CONTINENCE FOUNDATION
The Indian Continence Foundation was founded in 1998 as an open society. The primary goal of the Foundation is to create awareness and education about incontinence among healthcare professionals and the general public. With the help and support of a dedicated group of professionals we have made considerable progress with a steadily increasing membership base. The Foundation has published a fact sheet about its' intended activities and also public information materials on incontinence and related subjects. The Foundation runs a free clinic every month, which provides a clinical advisory service for people suffering from incontinence. In order to have uniform standards in incontinence management as well providing in-depth knowledge on current concepts, the Foundation has launched a newsletter - ICON aimed at medical professionals interested in the management of incontinence. The inaugural issue has been very well received and highly appreciated. We intend feature articles, which will give clear direction to professionals in the management of incontinence. The Foundation has also plans to release a patient newsletter and to conduct a course-cum-workshop for nurses and care givers by the end of the year. This course is being planned as an annual event which will train nurses in a speciality where presently there is a void. We also aim to conduct instructional courses and seminars for doctors and also start subsidised care for selected incontinence sufferers.
